As a collector of Japanese Porcelain, this set really excited me. I've never seen an illustration of this nature or that told a story like this. It's a simple version of Geisha ware with no gilt but a simple illustration featuring the traditional Geisha figure. This particular figure has a spotted dug on a leash that has escaped it's lead on the other side of the piece.
It's more whimsical and sweet than the typical export porcelain. The back stamp dates it to the to early 1920s as it's post Nippon but hand written rather than stenciled.
It's a very small set, more espresso cup than Demitasse and the porcelain is fine and thin. Both the cup and saucer have hairline cracks but they don't detract from the pieces.
